Product Description
Mangala variety is one of the oldest exotic arecanut cultivars of India. This variety is a selection from VTL-3, an accession introduced from China. This variety possesses characters such as earliness in bearing i.e. in 3 to 4 years after plantation, more number of female flowers per inflorescence, higher nut set, initial and cumulative higher yield, quicker stabilization of production and lesser height as compared to local variety. It is classified under semi tall variety. It is characterized by partially drooping crown with well spread leaves and more number of leaflets as compared to local varieties. Average yield is 2.90 kg chali/ palm/ year. However, it produces 3.7 kg to 6 kg arecanuts per tree per year as per different climatic condition and management.
